Real Mexican Cooking, On the Island


Plenty of places in Ibiza claim Mexican food. We cook it the way it's meant to be cooked: 8 varieties of dried chili imported straight from Mexico — pasilla, ancho, mulato, guajillo, morita, chipotle, chile de árbol, habanero — used to build every salsa by hand. The tortillas are pressed to order from nixtamalised corn, and the entire kitchen is 100% gluten-free — celiac-safe, no shared fryers, no shared surfaces. The menu rotates every two weeks with what's at the market.

Chef Mario Gracia brings 15 years of Mexican and Latin American cooking, with a stint in the kitchen of Álvaro Clavijo (El Chato, #1 Latin America's 50 Best). In Sant Josep he's found the format he wanted: small, free, with a terrace and a lot of fire.
